Morgan dollars were minted between 1878 and 1904, with some minted in 1921 as well. Over half a billion coins were minted during those years but hundreds of millions were melted for their silver bullion content between 1918 and 1921. After coming back in 1921, they were rotated out of production in favor of Peace Dollars in 1923. They were minted in Philadelphia (O), Carson City (CC), Denver (D), New Orleans (O) and San Francisco (S).

At the left you will find a beautiful example of a Morgan dollar reverse. The Morgan dollar was not very popular during it original issue periods. However, after languishing for some years, the discovery of a large cache at the Carson City mint in the early 1950s sparked collector interest as the federal government released them to collectors of the day.
