2010 Penny Reverse Design
With the release and end of the 2009 Lincoln bicentennial penny series, many had opined the end of the penny series. With price inflation and the cost of producing pennies being higher than the value, there is a lot of economic sense to do away with the cent. The Mint however, has other plans. The new design for the 2010 penny, ending the lincoln memorial was picked in late November.
Though some out there like the new reverse design, I feel that it looks a little old school. The thirteen stripes represent the original 13 colonies. This doesn’t really make sense for the current union status, but I suppose it is historically significant. The banner holding “ONE CENT” also looks super tacky to me. But my sense of style is pretty bad. What do you guys think?
These are the other penny candidates.
