The Stone Mountain Half Dollar was struck on January 21,1925 in Philadelphia (1,314,709 coins); on Gen. Stonewall Jacksons birthday. Generals Lee and Jackson are on the Stone Mountain half dollar. The designer was Gutzon Borglum, who later would sculpt Mount Rushmore. The goverment used the funds from this coin to help with the expense of the carving figures of the Confederate leaders and soldiers on Stone Mountain in Georgia. It is .900 silver (90%).
